Ecuador: Education in the Slums
Rachel Lowe
About me
In November 2011 I will be travelling to Ecuador, living for 6 months in Guayaquil.
Travelling between slums, I will be delivering weekly creative workshops for street children in their neighbourhoods.
Working through UK charity CMAP (Charlotte Miller Art Project) in partnership with Ecuadorian NGO JUCONI (Junto Con Los Ninos, Together with Children) works with families of street children and provides therapy to resolve familial issues.

85% of JUCONI children leave street life
Through the CMAP Participatory Arts Programme, the JUNCONI kids are given the opportunity to express themselves in creative and productive ways

This examples the 'Writing a Self Portrait' project showing how the children choose art to communicate their difficulties and emotions.

96% of JUCONI kids
integrate into mainstream schooling, many for the first time.
Would you Support Me to deliver these creative workshops?
