Educating the Next Generation

High School Classroom Sign. Monrovia. April 2008

We work with and support numerous Elementary and Junior High schools, primarily in the Capital, Monrovia, but with opportunities to expand this work further as we secure increased human and practical resources.

Tens of thousands of children received no education for over a decade during the conflict and around 1/2 million children still do not attend school where 2/3rds of students are being taught by unqualified teachers.

LCE School, Monrovia. But the educational system is now slowly under renewal, with an enormous task in hand in the training of teachers in critical thinking, reading and writing and the practical equipping of schools across the country.

We have opportunity to both develop further the support and development of established schools and their teaching staff.

A great need also exists for establishing and equipping new schools deep into the heart of Liberia where untold suffering took place during the 14 years of civil war.

We have the openings and Liberian networks to see this reality.

Can you help us secure the financial and practical resources through Giving to realise this great need in equipping the country's next generation.

Thank you.
